Al-Inshiqaq

The Sundering

Al-Inshiqaq presents heaven and earth responding to their Lord, then addresses the human being whose labor is moving toward a meeting with Him. Receiving one's record leads either to an easy reckoning and joy or to distress after a life that denied return. Sunset, night, and the full moon evoke movement through changing conditions. The chapter closes by questioning rejection of the Qur'an and promising an enduring reward for faith expressed in good works.
