Our approach

Understanding opens
the door to discovery.

A visual introduction that helps you begin reading with attention, curiosity, and care.

A map, then the verses.

QuranDiscovery introduces the major themes and movement of all 114 surahs. A chapter map shows connected ideas; a passage journey follows the verses in their original order; a reading view brings you to the Arabic text and an English translation of its meanings.

The maps are learning aids. They do not replace the Qur’an, detailed tafsir, or study with qualified teachers. The aim is to help you notice more when you read, and to encourage the next step into deeper learning.

Clear boundaries between text and reflection.

Arabic verses and the English translation are presented in the reading view. Chapter summaries, thematic groupings, and reflection questions are original editorial study aids. They should be read as introductions, rather than as authoritative or exhaustive interpretations.

Thematic boundaries can be drawn in different ways, and many passages address several themes. Our passage maps use a primary theme to color each section, while chapter maps can connect the same passage to several themes. The complete verse sequence is preserved. Revelation-period labels reflect a common chapter classification; individual verses and historical details can be discussed differently in scholarship.

Read with context.

Every passage opens a verse range, and you can switch to the complete chapter at any time. Take time to consider what comes before and after a passage. For further study, compare explanations in established tafsir works and bring your questions to a qualified teacher.

The reading text.

The Arabic reading view uses the Uthmani script. The English translation of the meanings is by M. Marmaduke Pickthall, first published in 1930. Its historical English preserves the translator’s wording, so some expressions may feel unfamiliar to modern readers.
