Surah 66 · 12 verses

At-Tahrim

The Prohibition

At-Tahrim opens with a correction involving the Prophet's household, lawful things, oaths, and a disclosed confidence. Repentance and dependable support matter even in the closest relationships. The address then widens to protecting oneself and one's family, seeking sincere repentance, and hoping for completed light at judgment. Examples of Noah's and Lot's wives show that proximity to righteous people does not guarantee salvation. Pharaoh's wife and Mary demonstrate personal faithfulness in contrasting circumstances, making each person's response more decisive than household status.
