Al-Fatihah

The Opener

Al-Fatihah teaches the reader how to approach God before asking for anything. Praise, mercy, and final accountability establish the setting for worship and dependence. The prayer then turns toward a path shaped by divine favor rather than confusion or rejection. Its plural voice makes guidance a shared concern. This brief opening joins recognition of God with the daily need to be taught, corrected, and helped in living faithfully.
