Surah 62 · 11 verses

Al-Jumu'ah

The Congregation, Friday

Al-Jumuah celebrates the sending of a messenger who recites revelation, nurtures people, and teaches scripture and wisdom. Receiving sacred knowledge is not enough when its obligations are left unapplied, and exclusive claims of favor cannot remove the certainty of death. The chapter then directs believers to leave trade when called to Friday prayer, return afterward to seeking Allah's bounty, and remember Him often. Its final warning asks whether merchandise and entertainment have become more compelling than the remembrance that gives work its proper place.
